Love Hauwa Odion (Mrs) founder of the STEM Teachers Rewards and Empowerment Foundation
(STREF) is a graduate of Social Studies Education from the Great University of Benin where she bagged
a B.ed with 2nd class upper division.
She hails from Kogi State (Okene) but moved to Kano in 2012 for her National Youth Service Corp
which she completed in 2013 and stayed back in Kano to pursue her career in entrepreneurship and family
life.
She is a business consultant and serial entrepreneur running several businesses and partnerships in Kano. She is a very passionate philanthropist, public speaker, change maker who has carried out several humanitarian projects over the years in Kano state Nigeria and she was recently awarded by former presidential aspirant, public speaking and leadership coach, Mr Fela Durotoye as one of the Top 50 rising social impact transformers in Nigeria.
In the year 2020, she founded the STEM Teachers Rewards and Empowerment Foundation and organized the very first STEM Teachers Awards and Gala (STAG) which held on the 15th of December 2020 at Grand Central Hotel, Kano where 10 outstanding teachers were awarded with over 250 teachers, school owners and reps from different society and professional groups in attendance.
In 2021, she organized a free 2-day skill acquisition training for teenagers and young ladies from the age of 15-27yrs where attendees were taught to make hair bonnet, hair bands and turbans for personal and commercial purpose, several beneficiaries have gone on to start their own businesses making and selling hair bonnets/bands and hair accessories, she also organized a Sanitary Towel Drive where over 40 jumbo sized sanitary towels were distributed to teenage girls from under privileged backgrounds who subscribe to unhygienic means and materials during their monthly flow.
She is a seasoned STEM Ambassador and Enthusiast, she organizes Coding Bootcamp in collaboration with Tech organizations in Primary and secondary schools, and in 2019 she organized a coding bootcamp for pupils and students of ST. Louis Primary and secondary School with over 300 participants. She has also organized STEM Workshops for Teachers and Educators in several primary and secondary schools in Kano.
She is an active member of the Nigerian Army officers Wives Association (NAOWA) 3 Brigade Kano
Chapter and the current managing Partner of UCMAS (Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic) Kano, an
organization that trains children (Age 5-16) in mental Arithmetic with the use of Abacus.
She is happily married to Maj. Cosmos O. Odion and they are blessed with three lovely children.
